Xero Validation Error: The document date cannot be before the period lock date, currently set at <date>
How can this happen?
The period lock date is set in Xero, and prevents records from being created prior to this date.
If you look at the ConnectWise record, you should see that the date is set to the period before. If you use Lock Dates, you will need to ensure that all your records (Invoices / POs / Expenses, etc.) are captured before the close of the month, as Wise-Sync collects the dates from ConnectWise.
Remove the locked period dates in Xero to resolve.
Before removing the lock period, there are two things that you need to take note:
- This is not access that all users of Xero should have
- As there can be accounting impacts if a lock period is removed after a reporting period, you need to review why this transaction had missed the period that it belongs in and determine if appropriate to remove these locks
To change and remove the lock date, log into your Xero company, then click on Accounting
- Click Advanced
- Click Financial Settings
- Under Lock Dates, delete the date in the Lock Date field, then
- Click Save.
- After completing the steps provided above, you may then try to re-sync your records
